HOLSTEIN — Classic cross country meets like the Western Valley Conference on the beautiful course at the Holstein Country Club was held Saturday just five days before the state qualifying meet on the same course.
Advantage? Fair enough to say Ridge View’s cross country teams are going to do well. The girls team captured the team title with a 34 team score, winding up ahead of Lawton-Bronson with a 53.
There was a total of 45 varsity girls runners. Junior Addy Tesch has been the Raptors leader much of the season. On Saturday, Tesch finished in third place with a time of 20:56.05. She finished behind eighth-ranked (Class 1A) Chloe Broer of West Monona the medalist with a 19:52.04. Runner-up was 13th-ranked (Class 2A) Rachel Putze of WC/K-/RV with a 20:09.07 showing.
The boys team placed runner-up to Lawton-Bronson out of six teams. In was a minimal margin of two points. The team champion Eagles had a 52 team score and Ridge View was 52.
Class 2A 24th-ranked Charlie Forbes continues to be the class of the Western Valley Conference. The senior runner won the individual medalist honors with a time of 17:28.29. The Falcons of OABCIG had Gabriel Bergman settle for runner-up with a 17:40.02 clocking.
Junior Odin Hanson earned the highest place finish for the Ridge View boys. Hanson completed the 5K event with an overall sixth place showing in a time of 18:14.86. Hanson led a pack of three Raptors to the finish line. Freshman Talan Witzke was seventh with a time of 18:40.93, and sophomore Landyn Peterson with a 18:45.00 effort for eighth place.
The remaining two score to complete the team total were Tyler Dutler (17th) and Brody Bisenius (18th).
Ridge View returns on Thursday in the Class 1A State Qualifying Meet in Holstein. The meet gets underway at 4 PM.
