HAWARDEN — The MMCRU volleyball team dropped the second set against a one win team in War Eagle Conference rival West Sioux on Tuesday. Tied 1-1 in the match, the Royals took over to earn the four set victory 25-13, 22-25, 25-17, 25-19.
The win is just the second match victory in last seven matches played over a span of 10 days. With the win, the Royals avenge a 3-2 match loss from a season ago on the Royals home floor in Marcus.
The Royals received some of its better play this season from Tia Tentinger, Chloe Alesch, Aleah Lux, Kylie Harpenau, and Breanna Staab. The duo of Tentinger and Harpenau finished with 27 and 16 assists, accounting for all but three of the team’s total of 46.
Tentinger also finished with nine kills, four digs, and finished 23-of-24 (95.8%) with four aces serving. Alesch had Lux tied for a team-best 12 kills. Alesch also had 20 digs, second only to Staab’s match-best 22 digs. She finished 12-for-13 (92.3%) with a pair of aces. Staab was a perfect 11-for-11 (100%) with two aces.
Addison Westergaard finished with a match-best 13 kills for a Falcons team have finished a minus -32 in kill margin and posted a .056 kill efficiency. She also had two blocks, 10 digs and finished 10-for-11 (90.9%) with an ace serve. West Sioux served 90.5 percent (67-for-74) with six aces. Elsie Westergaard had 20 assists for West Sioux, who falls to 1-15 overall on the season.
