CHEROKEE — While the thunderous rain clouds moved in and forced postponement on Thursday, area teams reassembled on Friday for the Deb Hankens Invitational.

The host Braves from Cherokee opened their cross country season winning a lot of hardware. The girls and boys team swept the meet, but not without it being highly contested in both events. Cherokee nipped runner-up Alta-Aurelia 40-41, and Ridge View took third with a team score of 60.
