MOVILLE — Meadows Golf Course in Moville was the site for the Woodbury Central Invitational on Tuesday. MMCRU had teams in both the girls and boys 5K events with their top runners coming out to be junior Alisa Pajazotovic and senior Lucas Braun.
From a field of 52 varsity girls competing, Pajazotovic finished 13th with a time of 25:12.42. As a team, the Royals finished sixth ahead of Westwood, finishing with a 143 team score.
Capturing the girls varsity 5K race was 15th-ranked (Class 2A) Rachel Putze from WC/KP/RV. the junior completed the event in a winning time of 20:53.86. Runner-up was West Monona junior Chloe Broer. Broer came in 23rd-ranked (Class 1A) and finished with a time of 21:27.87.
Coming away with the girls team crown was Lawton-Bronson with a total of 55 team points, finishing ahead of Sergeant Bluff-Luton’s total of 76. Third place honors went to Sioux City West with a team score of 78.
The top two individual runners out of a field of 51 were both Sergeant Bluff-Luton kids. Junior Daniel Delarosa won with a 18:51.72 posting. Sophomore Andrew Lincoln completed the varsity boy’s 5K in a time of 18:56.89.
Sergeant Bluff-Luton also took the team crown with a 29 team score. Lawton-Bronson was runner-up with a total of 68.
The aforementioned Braun led MMCRU, finishing in fifth place with a time of 19:17.56. Senior teammate Clint Staab finished 13th place with an effort of 19:58.42. As a team, MMCRU finished sixth with a 118 team score.
